This park takes in the surrounding plateau and ergs. It’s outstanding beauty has been recognised by UNESCO, on its list of World Heritage sites as well as a biosphere reserve (MAB-UNESCO).
We watch over the preservation of all this beauty and all visitors are asked to do the same.
The ancient paintings and carvings on rock are very fragile and must not be touched. Circuits may cross rich archaeological areas with grindstones, arrow heads, pottery remains….all with high scientific interest. It is absolutely forbidden to pick up anything, park and customs rules are very clear. They also apply to fossils.
Plants and animals are rare; they must be left intact. It is paramount to not pollute the “gueltas” (water holes), so please no cloths washing or swimming and please leave bivouacs clean as well.
